SLCC Know Greater Heroes Program Named to Select 25

Salt Lake Community College’s  Know Greater Heroes Program has been named one of Select Health’s Select 25 winners for 2013. As part of the award, the program will receive $2500 from Select Health. Know Greater Heroes is a leadership training program that involves SLCC athletes who travel to local elementary schools to teach children how to eat right, be active, and avoid drugs and alcohol. Forty SLCC student athletes participate in the Know Greater Heroes program each year, and visit more than 30 schools each year, reaching approximately 25,000 elementary students, 1,700 elementary school educators, and over 54,000 parents annually. “We are extremely honored to receive this recognition from an organization that does as much good in our community as SelectHealth," SLCC executive director of development Chad Miller said. Library National Physical Fitness and Sports Month Book Display

The month of May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in order to celebrate, the Markosian Library at the Taylorsville Redwood campus is featuring a book display about the subject. Patrons are welcome to check out the materials featured in the display.
