SLCC Women's Basketball Competes in Finals

Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball is off to Kansas to participate in the NJCAA National Championships. The Bruins will enter the tournament as the No. 11 seed. Their first game is scheduled for 11 a.m., March 17 at Mountain Standard time against No. 22 ASA College from Brooklyn. The ASA Avengers posted a 16-4 record this season and were excellent on the road winning 13 of 14 contests away from home. The winner of the SLCC vs. ASA game will move on to play No. 6 Iowa Western at 6 p.m. (MST) Wednesday. SLCC student, staffer awarded new “recycled” ride

Vanessa Wilkins drove home from Salt Lake Community College on March 13 a happy woman, behind the wheel of a free 2008 Nissan Quest minivan. Vanessa Wilkins at the wheel of her free van SLCC staff worked with American Family Insurance to select a deserving individual at SLCC to receive the van, rehabilitated with the help of donations from local auto parts stores and the efforts of Superior Auto Body in Draper. Wilkins’ family recently had two vehicles break down, making it a struggle to get their three children to different schools and both parents to work. After stitching together their family’s various commutes, Wilkins finally purchased a small car. The rehabilitated used van, however, will be a huge addition to the family’s driveway. With this donation through National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program, in coordination with American Family Insurance, the Wilkins family can breathe a little easier and even allow their children to b
