Award-Winning Journalist Naomi Klein SLCC Tanner Forum Speaker

Salt Lake Community College will host Naomi Klein, author of the New York Times #1 international bestseller “The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism,” as a guest speaker for the 2015 Tanner Forum on Social Ethics. Naomi Klein “As an award-winning journalist Naomi Klein has tackled critical cultural issues that span topics such as corporate brands gone awry, free market policies that dominate the world and, most recently, an analysis of the climate crisis,” said Alison McFarlane, SLCC Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “ Her books are compelling and provocative as we know her presentation will be as well. SLCC Ranks 6th in Nation for Degrees Awarded

Salt Lake Community College placed sixth overall in Community College Week’s most recent Top 100 list of associate degree producing colleges in the country. “SLCC is consistently in the top 10 producers and we are always pleased to share this accomplishment,” said SLCC President Deneece G. Annual Gail Miller Golf Tournament Benefits SLCC Students

Salt Lake Community College Foundation recently held its annual Gail Miller Utah Leadership Cup golf tournament at Hidden Valley Country Club in Sandy and raised more than $140,000 for student scholarships. Assistant SLCC Softball Coach Receives National Award

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently announced its recipients of the 2015 Assistant Coach of the Year Awards at the various levels, and the award for NJCAA Division I went to Salt Lake Community College Assistant Coach Tara Bendt. Tara Bendt “These awards salute the efforts of coaches from the various NFCA membership categories for their tireless dedication to the sport of softball and to the continued education, growth and development of young women, both on and off the playing field. All five of this year’s class of recipients played a pivotal role in their team’s success during the 2014-15 softball season,” the NFCA is quoted as saying on the website www.flosoftball.com.
