SLCC Emergency Procedures Brown Bag Series

Following any situation, disaster or other significant event, and during the initial stages of response, we must be Prepared. Are YOU Ready!

Health Education and Promotion Services helps students make informed, education and support. Prevention and healthy living are key to students' academic success. We also provide assistance to students who have specific concerns about their well-being. Issues we can assist with include, but are not limited to, alcohol and drugs, nutrition, fitness, relationships, safe sex education, stress management, and smoking cessation.

Session 2: Medical Emergencies on Campus

Medical emergencies in the workplace are seldom expected and very rarely properly planned for. Should there be a medical emergency where you work, your level of preparedness could mean the difference between life and death. Do you know what to do in the case of a medical emergency? Learning the basics will help you respond quickly and calmly in the face of chaos and could save a life.

This series of workshops is based on the Homeland Security and FEMA, “The Be Ready Campaign: Is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for Life situations, emergencies, and disasters. Even though we don't know when or where situations and emergencies may strike, we do know that we can do more to be prepared for the unexpected. These workshops are designed to help individuals take greater personal interest in their safety and know their surroundings and by learning how to prepare and understand what to do if a situation arise. Employees attending may bring their lunch to the workshops.

SLCC Alumnus and U.S. Diplomat to Speak at 2025 Commencement

Salt Lake Community College’s 2025 Commencement speaker Branigan Knowlton will share his perspectives drawn from a 12-year career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. In serving his country, Knowlton has honed his foreign relations and diplomacy skills in Hong Kong, Mexico, Colombia and Italy. Knowlton is also a proud Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) alumnus (2002).     Knowlton currently serves at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. Before reporting to the embassy, he was detailed to the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport as part of the Transatlantic Diplomatic Fellowship program. In Bogotá, Knowlton worked for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, and in Hermosillo, Mexico, he worked for the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
