Open Meetings in search for SLCC’s eighth president


Everyone in the Salt Lake Community College community is encouraged to attend any or all of four open meetings in advance of the search for the College’s eighth president.

The 21-member search committee will use the comments of people who attend these meetings to draft the official announcement for the job opening. Attendees should come prepared with ideas about the characteristics they’d like to see in a new president and what the priorities should be for the College’s new leader.

The meeting dates and locations are as follows:

January 28

                                                4600 S Redwood Road, Salt Lake City

The position opened up this year upon the departure of President Cynthia Bioteau, who accepted a position as president of Florida State College in Jacksonville. The State Board of Regents selected Dr. Deneece Huftalin, SLCC Vice President of Student Services to serve as the College’s interim president.

Recognizing SLCC's 2025 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering

The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a recognition of quality work by one of Salt Lake Community College’s full-time faculty and a charge to develop that work over an academic year into a public presentation. A committee chosen by the Associate Provost for Learning Advancement selects the faculty lecturer each year. The lecture takes place in the spring. Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering Dr. Andrew Vogt’s teaching philosophy is guided by two principles, curiosity and efficiency.  “Curiosity leads us to study a topic and allows us to really understand the ins and outs of research, while efficiency is all about sustainability,” he says.
