‘TACTILIS’ Exhibit at South City Campus Appeals to Blind, Low Vision Art Enthusiasts

Designed with the intention to be accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision, the “TACTILIS” art exhibit will be displayed from Oct. 3 through Nov. 9 in the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Art Gallery at Salt Lake Community College’s South City Campus, 1575 S. State Street, Salt Lake City.

In addition, an opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Oct. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Shandra Benito, executive director of Art Access in Salt Lake City, will give a presentation at 7 p.m. during the reception on the importance of accessibility and representation in art and public spaces. The exhibit is free and is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.

TACTILIS features fully non-hazardous, touchable pieces and labels in both English and Braille. Curated by SLCC art gallery and event specialist Danielle Susi, the exhibition showcases works created by Utah artists including: Havoc Hendricks, Shawn O’Porter, Lenka Konopasek, Nathan Brimhall, Jonna Ramey, Ben Booth, Clinton Whiting, Barbara Tyler, Linda Morrison and Suzanne Stoner.
