Salt Lake SBDC To Hold 5th Annual Utah Crowdfunding Summit

The Salt Lake Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and The Mill at Miller Campus (part of the SLCC Miller Business Resource Center) announce the Fifth Annual Utah Crowdfunding Summit 2019, presented by LedgerGurus, May 15, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at SLCC’s Miller Campus.

Panel discussions and speakers include:

·      Ryan Treft, is the investor or founder of local, successfully crowdfunded companies, such as Coalatree, Peejamas, and Corso.  He is considered one of Utah’s experts in the consumer product and E-commerce spaces, who has experience in the whole value chain – from product creation to final distribution to customers.

·      Kelsey O’Callaghan is the co-founder and CEO of Dorai Home, with a mission to rid unwanted moisture from your home.  Under her branding and digital marketing expertise, their first product, the Dorai Bath Mat raised $69,000 on Kickstarter in September 2018.

·      Kate Hansen is the co-founder and CEO of Culinesco, whose purpose is to create kitchen tools that make cooking easier, safer, and more enjoyable in your home.  Their first product, the Ergo Spout raised over $40,000 from over 1,000 backers across the world through Kickstarter in August 2018.

·      Brittany Brown is the founder and CEO of LedgerGurus, a growing and virtual accounting firm based in Utah with a focus on consumer products and eCommerce companies. Her unique internal organizational structure has most of their 40+ employees be work-from-home Moms located throughout the United States.

“Crowdfunding is still a very much a legitimate way for early-stage companies to validate a market for their product and to get needed money to complete the development of their product, such as buying tooling and building molds,“ said Bryce Hansen, Associate Director at the Salt Lake Region SBDC and one of the co-organizers for the event.  “Utah entrepreneurs will be able to learn from recent successes of other entrepreneurs just like themselves and get needed advice on the pitfalls to avoid.”

The half-day event fee is $30, including breakfast. To register online or for more information visit https://www.utahcrowdfunder.com.
