Athletes Excited to Compete in New Beach Volleyball Program

While the weather outside is currently frigid, the Salt Lake Community College Beach Volleyball program is gaining steam as it prepares for the Spring 2020 season. The Bruins will play a number of games in the spring season and are continuing to grow as a program.

SLCC volleyball coach Sue Dulaney, who will serve as the head coach for both programs, said the addition of beach volleyball has been an exciting add.

"Getting the beach program has been invigorating as so many current beach coaches are willing to give advice and help out," she said. "Coaches from Hawaii and California have been extremely helpful and the information they share comes from decades of playing beach. The challenge has been fun so far and we haven't even started playing yet."

Salt Lake's roster will consist of current SLCC players, with numerous NCAA Division-I schools offering programs for student-athletes to be recruited into. The University of Utah offers a varsity program that competes in the Pac-12 Conference.

Dulaney said the addition of the program has been a notable addition for recruits.

"When I talk to recruits, they are very excited about the opportunity," she said. "I think our current players are even more excited to play as many of them have a background in sand and cannot wait to play two-man."

Salt Lake is scheduled to play the University of Utah on April 10, with a matchup against Cal Poly shortly after that day.
