SLCC Campus Construction Update


The 2023-24 academic year is around the corner, and along with it comes all the excitement and anticipation about a new beginning. The construction world has many similarities to the higher education world such as time and patience and we have witnessed many of those constructions progress first-hand throughout the campuses. Here is a run-down of some projects Facility Services has been working on. 

 

Juniper Building at the new Herriman Campus

 

Salt Lake Community College Herriman Campus is anticipated to be finalized and ready to host an open house on Friday, August 4, from 3:30-8:00 p.m. All are invited to attend and get familiar with the brand-new campus.

 

Technical Arts Building (TAB) 

 

It has been over three years since a blaze burned the Applied Technology Building (ATB). However, dues to the extended winter we experienced earlier this year, the construction has been set back significantly schedule to open in Summer 2024.

 

Elevator

 

Repairs of the west AAB elevator and BB elevator have been completed and are fully operational.

 

Tennis/Pickleball Courts

 

Current construction for the tennis and pickleball courts has started on the northwest side of the Taylorsville campus. The construction utilizes a significant amount of parking lot H2 to support the project. The anticipated completion construction date is on September 1, 2023

 

To stay current on all construction happening throughout all SLCC campuses, it is advised to carefully read maintenance updates and construction notifications Facility Services provides via email. Stay vigilant of any construction vehicles and signage to find alternative routes from one building to another and avoid injuries.

SLCC Automotive Repairs

Many SLCC automotive programs need vehicles to work on in these areas: 30 point inspections Oil changes Tire rotation Engine repair Brake systems repair Automatic and transmission repairs Air conditioning repair Electrical troubleshooting & repair Suspension & steering system repair Auto-body repair and painting (on a very limited basis) Please be advised that any repairs are done at the discretion of the instructors due to the subject areas they are teaching.  Because we are using your vehicles for training purposes, we offer members of the College discounts on parts and labor. Parts are at our cost plus 15% and the service fee is $20 per hour based on industry time standards (if the industry assigns an hour for a repair, that's all you're charged for, regardless of how much time it takes the student). Did you know you can access SLCC lab software for free from your own computing device?   Come learn how SLCC is supporting BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) with All Access.
