The 3rd Annual Utah International Education Summit in SLC

Salt Lake Community College will host the 3rd Annual Utah International Education Summit in Salt Lake City on November 9, 2012 at the College’s Taylorsville Redwood Campus. Susan Sutton will be the summit’s Keynote Speaker and Institutional Collaboration Moderator.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the College’s Student Event Center at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus. A networking event will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Keynote speaker at 10:00 a.m.
Sutton is the author of five books and more than 60 articles on international education and the anthropology of modern Greece, including the recent Developing Strategic International Partnerships: Models for Initiating and Sustaining Innovative Institutional Linkages. She has been President of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), Chair of the International Education Leadership Knowledge Community of NAFSA, and on advisory councils for the American Council on Education (ACE), IIE, and the International Association of Universities (IAU).
Franz Kolb, Regional Director of the Utah Governor’s Office for Economic Development, will be presented with a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to higher education. Kolb is responsible for International Trade and Diplomacy responsible for Europe, India, Middle East and Africa in the State of Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
Dr. Elizabeth Hitch will serve as an Institutional Collaboration Panelist at the summit. Hitch received a BS/BA in Family Ecology at Michigan State University and a Doctorate in Education Psychology at the University of Michigan. Prior to her service as interim President of Utah Valley University, held a number of positions in higher education, including Dean, Interim Chancellor, Provost and Vice Chancellor at institutions in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. She also worked Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor at UVU before moving into the position of Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs at the Utah System of Higher Education.
Danny Damron will also be an Institutional Collaboration Panelist. He received a BA in Political Science from Brigham Young University, an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the School for International Training, and an MA and PhD in Comparative Politics from Purdue University. Damron is currently the Director of International Degree & Education Abroad in International Programs at Oregon State University.
