Salt Lake Community College graduate Tim Huval has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Humana Inc. Humana announced that Huval’s duties in his new position will include serving on the company's executive team and that he will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Broussard. Humana is one of the nation’s largest healthcare companies and is based in Louisville, Ky.
“We are always pleased to hear that our former students are doing well, and are particularly delighted at the news that Tim Huval has earned such an important position that will allow him to have a positive effect on many people’s lives and careers,” SLCC President Cynthia Bioteau said. “His professional success has been truly impressive. Tim is a wonderful example for our students and demonstrates that the College is providing the practical education and experience they need to thrive.”
In March 2007, SLCC awarded Huval an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters. He graduated from the College with an associate's degree in business management.
Huval’s previous professional experience includes ten years of service with Bank of America, where he worked as Senior Human Resources executive, Chief Information Officer for Global Wealth & Investment Management, and most recently as the bank's Senior Vice President for Consumer Service and Operations. In that capacity, he led the customer-service professionals who assist the bank’s nearly 60 million customers.
"What's impressive about Tim's career at Bank of America is that he was hand-picked on several occasions to solve critical business challenges in areas that go well beyond the scope of traditional HR," Humana CEO Bruce Broussard said. "He was successful in 100 percent of those challenges. Though he has held multiple senior-level roles, his passion has always been HR."
"I am honored to join Humana and eager to take on the company's HR opportunities and challenges," Huval said. "Besides being a leading health and well-being company, Humana is in the people business. That's what's most exciting and motivating to me."
Huval has been active in public service and giving back to the communities in which he has lived and worked. While in his position with Bank of America, he was an active leader in several charitable and philanthropic efforts, including serving as a board member of the United Way of Delaware, the Delaware Children's Museum and the Delaware Business Roundtable.
In addition to his associate degree from SLCC, Huval has a bachelor's degree in marketing from Weber State University and a master's degree in public administration from Brigham Young University.
