Framing Assistant Students’ Class Projects for Sale

Students of the SLCC Framing Assistant Program are building two 8’x 12’ storage sheds as a final project of their training; the sheds are available to purchase for $1,900, which covers materials. Students will perform the labor under the supervision of their SLCC faculty member.

The program is a partnership of the Salt Lake City government, Catholic Community Services, SLCC Workforce & Economic Development and others.

Anyone interested in purchasing a shed should note the following:

  • The first two SLCC employees to pay for a shed will receive one. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit/debit card.
  • The shed is 96 square feet, and has a 36-inch wide fiberglass door and one window.
  • The sheds are built in sections in a classroom and will be assembled on site.
  • Onsite assembly dates: Jan. 26, 29-30 (Shed 1) or Jan. 31-Feb. 2 (Shed 2).
    • Someone over the age of 18 must be present on either Jan. 26 (for Shed 1) or Jan. 31 (Shed 2) to sign for delivery and indicate where the shed will go.
  • If placing in a fenced back yard, fence must have a gate or be no more than six feet high.
  • Buyers must have a level or semi-level piece of ground large enough to accommodate the shed with three feet of clearance on each side of the shed for assembly.
  • The buyer is responsible for all necessary permits and permissions with the appropriate city and HOA (if applicable). Check with the city for building permit requirements. Buyers will also complete an SLCC Waiver of Liability.

Recognizing SLCC's 2025 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering

The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a recognition of quality work by one of Salt Lake Community College’s full-time faculty and a charge to develop that work over an academic year into a public presentation. A committee chosen by the Associate Provost for Learning Advancement selects the faculty lecturer each year. The lecture takes place in the spring.
