Meetings Will Cover Human Resources, Discrimination and Sexual Harassment

Salt Lake Community College is hosting four meetings that include representatives from Human Resources and the Equal Employment Opportunity & Civil Rights Investigation Office to discuss several important topics.

Workplace policies and procedures can sometimes look confusing, but they do not have to be. During the month of February, the Human Resource department is going to be holding info sessions to help you better understand what services and resources are available to employees and supervisors.
2. The Equal Employment Opportunity & Civil Rights Investigation Office investigates claims of discrimination and sexual harassment and works with supervisors to help prevent discrimination and sexual harassment. Employee relations works with employees and supervisors to provide advising and resolutions to issues that may arise in the workplace. Common questions can revolve around what actions do or do not qualify as discrimination or sexual harassment or who you can talk to if you have concerns. Miriam Allred, EEO Investigator and John Robinson, Director of Employee Relations, will address these concerns and more at the February employee info sessions. NOTE: If you have immediate concerns that need to be addressed, you are encouraged to contact Miriam Allred or John Robinson.

SLCC Alumnus and U.S. Diplomat to Speak at 2025 Commencement

Salt Lake Community College’s 2025 Commencement speaker Branigan Knowlton will share his perspectives drawn from a 12-year career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. In serving his country, Knowlton has honed his foreign relations and diplomacy skills in Hong Kong, Mexico, Colombia and Italy. Knowlton is also a proud Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) alumnus (2002). Knowlton currently serves at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. Before reporting to the embassy, he was detailed to the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport as part of the Transatlantic Diplomatic Fellowship program. In Bogotá, Knowlton worked for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, and in Hermosillo, Mexico, he worked for the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
