Commencement 2024: Lexus Lindeman

Lexus Lindeman SLCC 2024 Provost Graduates of Excellence

A chilly, overcast Friday morning did not dull the bright smile, colorful cap and decorated regalia Lexus Lindenman wore to the SLCC commencement at the Maverick Center. A big nervous smile full of excitement was how Lexus greeted her other peers and Graduates of Excellence, who, just like her, earned the prestigious distinction.

"I must execute this procession flawlessly; I cannot stumble, for I am representing all of us," Lexus declared, adjusting her regalia. The presence of her parents and siblings, whom she often assists with her two disabled siblings, added an emotional layer to this moment. Lexus's commitment to her family, often traveling out of state to support them, is a testament to her resilience and determination.

Choosing not to elaborate on the profound impact of this graduation on her and her family, Lexus expressed deep gratitude for her husband and parents. The fact that neither of her parents had the opportunity to graduate from high school, let alone college, made Lexus's walk across that stage all the more significant. It was a testament to the power of familial support and love, and a symbol of her determination to overcome any obstacle.

"It is moments like this that I can see all my family and my sacrifices coming to fruition," says Lexus, "look at all my sacrifices that are not only worth it, but I am excellent."

Lexus's future looks as bright as her smile as she continues pursuing a Bachelor's degree and does not rule out a master's degree down the road.
