50th Anniversary MLK Jr's "I Have a Dream" Speech


In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s march on Washington, “I Have a Dream” speech, SLCC’s Student Life and Leadership department is broadcasting on the hour, for the second day, at all the campuses, his remarkable speech that took place on the Washington Mall, August 28, 1963.

The Black Student Union is sponsoring a time for reflection, in the northwest hall of the  Student Center, where students and other members of the College are encouraged to post their own dreams—whether for themselves or society.

As the College continues to have campus wide conversations regarding strengthening our inclusivity, this anniversary seems an important historical moment to attend to, and act upon.

We invite you to  take a few minutes reflecting on Reverend King’s legacy, and your own dreams for a brighter future.

    I became familiar with the names and movements of the constellations. But my deep interest in this our `only earth' was not for itself but as a fit home for man. virtual assistant program
