Honoring Women Veterans event previews MAKERS documentary

Salt Lake Community College's Veterans Services is presenting a sneak preview of the MAKERS' documentary "Women In War" October 15 at the Student Center Oak Room on the Taylorsville Redwood Campus as part of the free Honoring Women Veterans event that day.

There will be a resource fair from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. followed by guest speakers, taped interviews of women veterans and a sneak preview of the documentary from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"Women In War" examines women's increasing presence in war - from Vietnam to the present - as nurses, soldiers, journalists, diplomats and spies. MAKERS has collaborated with PBS to produce six documentaries that focus on fields where women have broken new ground and reshaped American institutions.

The entire documentary will air October 21, 8 p.m. on KUED Channel 7.
