SLCC alum celebrates Salt Lake area sites in exhibit at South City

Be sure to check out Salt Lake Community College alum T.K. Stephens' "Greater Salt Lake" exhibit at the George S. & Dolores Doré Eccles Art Gallery at the College's South City Campus until September 8, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (closed Saturdays and Sundays).

the ritual with which we comply, upon which we are fixed: the noise we make of beginning, obscuring the chance-composed music of a thousand quieter
commencements: they will arrive on that day, each from her own neighborhood, family, circumstance. She will have arranged for her shift to begin when her two classes end.
He will have taken his little boy to daycare. She wants to go to law school. He wants to farm as his father did, but in a better way. Another
holds hope like a small amulet he dare…

SLCC West Valley Center Grand Opening

Salt Lake Community College joined the community and leaders Aug. 15 to open our newest location, West Valley Center, 3460 S. 5600 West in West Valley City.

A ribbon cutting was held with special guests, Utah Rep. Sophia DiCaro, Utah Sen. Luz Escamilla, and West Valley City Councilman Corey Rushton. Guests were given tours of the facilities, refreshments and gifts.
Whether it’s the basics, such as English or math, or more off-the-beaten path, such as astronomy or yoga, West Valley Center offers a variety of subjects to fit many goals and aspirations. The Center will also have student services for veterans, people with disabilities, and those in need of financial assistance. 
Close to Granger, Kearns, Hunter and Cyprus high schools, SLCC is collaborating with community, government and business leaders to ensure the West Valley Center meets the needs of the area and its residents.

Welcome Week introduces new and continuing students to SLCC’s vibrant campus life. 
It's held during the first three weeks of Fall Semester and offers opportunities to explore Salt Lake Community College’s comprehensive resources, to meet other students, and to attend events and programs designed especially for new and returning college students. 
We encourage all students to attend free Welcome Week events. You'll have a great time and get to know your new campus.

SLCC Libraries Welcome New Hire Ann Richins

Salt Lake Community College Libraries recently hired Ann Richins in a new library position as assistant director of content services.Ann is based in the Markosian Library at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
Ann’s previous library experience includes LDS Hospital as a medical librarian, as well as the Weber County Library System as a periodicals librarian.She holds a Masters in Library Science degree from University of North Texas.
Now, in her new job at the college, Ann is looking forward to involvement in library initiatives such as Universal Access for the SLCC Libraries’ Digital Collection. “I am looking forward to working at SLCC as it seems like a really good time to be here, focusing on the vision of collaborating with college faculty as well as integrating library services into the life of the college,” she said.
