Kevin Rodriguez, SLCC Student. Students enrolled in the School of Applied Technology (SAT) or for-credit classes for the 2022 Spring Semester will automatically receive a federal COVID relief one time check of $500 or $750. The amount students will receive depends upon Pell eligibility. Qualifying students who are Pell eligible will receive a one time check for $750, and qualifying students who are not Pell eligible will receive $500. Eligibility for the grant is not dependent upon citizenship status. “This is great for SLCC students. The money can be used for things like tuition, books, housing, food, or childcare, while attending Salt Lake Community College,” said Ryan Farley, Associate VP for Enrollment Management. Funds can also be used to help with emergency costs associated with COVID-19. Qualifying students signed up for direct deposit will automatically receive the funds in their designated bank account. Why SLCC: I chose SLCC because I have a scholarship here and also because I joined the SLCC Bridge program, which has helped a lot. What motivates you or inspires you at school and/or in life: I think my family motivates me to do better in school and life. What are some important life and/or career lessons you have learned so far: Communication is key to a lot of situations. Family: I have a mother, father, brother and sister.
