Meet Our Students: Rebecca Felchar

Rebecca Felchar

Preferred pronouns:

She/Her/Hers

Age:

20

Residence:

Murray, Utah

From:

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Current major:

Psychology. I have always been interested in human behavior and behaviors that deviate from the “norm”.

Academic goals:

Pursuing my bachelor's degree in Psychology and possibly double majoring with a degree in Biology. I am also planning on getting a master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

Dream job:

Working for Google!

Plan B:

Working for any other cool company.

Why higher education:

I have always wanted to experience college, especially in the United States. Campus is full of people from all over the world.

Why SLCC:

It is more affordable than completing all four years at a university. SLCC also has smaller classrooms that promote bonding between students and facilitate communication with professors.

What motivates you or inspires you at school and/or in life:

The exchange of ideas in the classroom setting has helped me identify my core drivers. Higher education puts you face to face with the question “Who Am I?”, and the process of answering that question is not easy. Exposure to new experiences works in guiding you along the path of self-discovery. College awakens the philosopher that inhabits everyone. Curiosity motivates me, and higher education is all about having questions.

Important life and/or career lessons you have learned so far:

Not all questions can be answered, and that is not necessarily bad. It keeps the field moving.

Best advice you have been given or that you give others:

To live in the present moment.

Family:

I am an only child, and my family is pretty small. We have a strong Italian background, and my grandmother is an amazing cook!

Hobbies:

Roller skating, photography, embroidery and hiking. I also love learning new languages and listening to music.

SLCC Business School is Utah’s First to be Named Exclusively After a Woman

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) proudly announces a partnership with the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation to modernize its Business Building and transform its School of Business. The improvements are made possible through a generous $10 million gift from the Miller Family Foundation and Gail Miller, the largest-ever single cash donation received by the college.  SLCC is renaming its Business Building the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Business Building in honor of the Miller family’s legacy and contributions to the community. The business school will be named the Gail Miller School of Business in recognition of the strong business acumen Gail Miller displays as a community leader and as the owner and immediate past chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. This name change will make SLCC home to the only business school in Utah and one of only a few in the country to be named exclusively after a woman.  “We are deeply humbled by the generosity of Gail and the Miller fam
