Linda Rodriguez Preferred pronouns : She/her Age : 26 Residence : Salt Lake City From : Salt Lake City, UT Current major: Fashion design, because I want to make my own clothes. Academic goals: To learn as much as I can and graduate college. Dream job: To be a fashion designer! Plan B: Be a stylist.   Rebecca Felchar    Preferred pronouns: She/Her/Hers    Age: 20   Residence: Murray, Utah     From: Sao Paulo, Brazil    Current major: Psychology. I have always been interested in human behavior and behaviors that deviate from the “norm”.     Academic goals: Pursuing my bachelor's degree in Psychology and possibly double majoring with a degree in Biology. I am also planning on getting a master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology.     Dream job: Working for Google!     Plan B: Working for any other cool company.     Why higher education: I have always wanted to experience college, especially in the United States. Campus is full of people from all over the world.     Why SLCC: It is more affordable than completing all four years at a university. Eligible SLCC Students Receive up to $750 for Higher Education COVID Relief

Kevin Rodriguez, SLCC Student. Students enrolled in the School of Applied Technology (SAT) or for-credit classes for the 2022 Spring Semester will automatically receive a federal COVID relief one time check of $500 or $750. The amount students will receive depends upon Pell eligibility. Qualifying students who are Pell eligible will receive a one time check for $750, and qualifying students who are not Pell eligible will receive $500. Eligibility for the grant is not dependent upon citizenship status. “This is great for SLCC students. The money can be used for things like tuition, books, housing, food, or childcare, while attending Salt Lake Community College,” said Ryan Farley, Associate VP for Enrollment Management. Funds can also be used to help with emergency costs associated with COVID-19. Qualifying students signed up for direct deposit will automatically receive the funds in their designated bank account. Why are you pursuing a higher education: In order to have options on what I decide to do for a job or a career. Why SLCC: I chose SLCC because I have a scholarship here and also because I joined the SLCC Bridge program, which has helped a lot. What motivates you or inspires you at school and/or in life: I think my family motivates me to do better in school and life. What are some important life and/or career lessons you have learned so far: Communication is key to a lot of situations. Family: I have a mother, father, brother and sister. Hobbies: I love skateboarding, playing video games, going to the gym and watching YouTube or shows.

  Sierra K. Schmidt Preferred pronouns: she/her Age: 19 Residence: Draper, Utah From: Fairfax, Virginia Major: I am majoring in music because I play the piano and want to be an elementary school music teacher. Academic goals: My academic goals are to pass every class requirement for my associates degree.   I also aim to get a bachelor's degree in music.   Dream job: My dream job is to be an elementary school music teacher in Canyons School District in Utah or Bisbee Unified School District in Arizona. Plan B: Plan B: Be a piano salesperson because I know a lot about piano makes and models Plan C: I plan to continue to sell music books on my eBay store, which is called “Music Book Liquidators”.   This business is going very well.   I have built a clientele of nearly 500 buyers from all over the United States and internationally.   I am a “top rated” seller on eBay.   I continuously receive positive reviews for my product, packaging, communications, good prices and fast shipping.
