Salt Lake Community College is host to several camps during the summer that are open to elementary and high school age children. Two of them include the "rebooted" Slick Science Camp, organized by the School of Science, Math and Engineering, and the Bytes of Brilliance Summer Camp for girls, put on by the Computer Science and Information Systems department at SLCC. Outgoing Salt Lake Community College Board of Trustees Chair Gail Miller was honored Wednesday by Utah Gov. Gary Herbert during her final meeting with the board. Herbert recognized Miller and outgoing board members since 2013, Patricia Richards and David W. Lang, for their years of service to the college. Trustee Annie Schwemmer, who served on the board representing the SLCC Alumni Association since 2009, was also honored. Miller recently received the Association of Community College Trustees Pacific Region Trustee Leadership award. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert pays tribute to Gail Miller. “She is such a good friend and contributor to our community in so many different ways,” Herbert said about Miller during the meeting. “The success of Salt Lake Community College is in large part tied to Gail Miller’s efforts with Larry (H. Salt Lake Community College will be hosting the annual Utah Sponsored Projects Administration Network (USPAN) Conference this year for the first time. The conference will be June 23, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the SLCC Taylorsville Redwood Campus. Each annual conference personnel working in research and grant administration at Utah's higher education institutions gather at a college or university in Utah to build relationships and share ideas and best practices. For the upcoming conference attendees will talk about working with government agencies to secure public funding resources, share successes of sponsored research and scholarship at their institutions and discuss how to interpret and apply government regulations. Salt Lake Community College President Cynthia Bioteau invites manufacturing professionals and industry educators to SLCC’s first Annual Manufacturing Leadership Summit about Utah’s manufacturing industry.  The Summit will be held on September 27, from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Free Enterprise Center Auditorium, Larry H. Miller Campus 9750 South 300 West, in Sandy, UT. Jennifer McNelly, President of the Manufacturing Institute will provide the keynote address. Her presentation will outline opportunities for the next generation of manufacturing—including cultivating a thriving workforce and staying competitive in the 21st century.
