SLCC and Granger High Launch Program to Increase College Access for First-Generation and Low-Income Students
On Wednesday, January 24, 60 Granger High School freshmen will receive a free iPad as participants in the school’s new PACE Program ( Partnership for Accessing College Education ). The Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) donor-funded program has significantly increased high school graduation and college participation rates in the Salt Lake Valley for low-income and first-generation college students, over the last 10 years. "We’re pretty pumped about the PACE program. It helps the kids see the end goal at the beginning of high school—many students think college is unaffordable or not an option for them,” said Granger’s Principal, Tyler Howe, PhD. “All the steps leading to graduation and college can seem abstract.
