My day entails of meeting with departments that are going to be audited. It is also lots and lots and lots of researching what these departments actually do. One interesting fact about IA is that we do more than just traditional financial audits, but we also perform compliance and performance audits, so it something new every day. Salt Lake Community College welcomed back scholarship donors and recipients to the annual scholarship luncheon recently at the Miller Campus, notably to celebrate in person.   After pivoting to a virtual event last year in the wake of the pandemic, this year’s scholarship luncheon was met with high spirits and gracious smiles. This longstanding event opens the door for SLCC donors to meet and engage with the students they support. The celebration also allows students the opportunity to thank their scholarship supporters for making their education dreams a reality.   “Education is transformative for both our students and our communities,” said SLCC President Deneece G. February 2022 marked the fifty-seventh consecutive American Heart Month. President Lyndon B. Johnson introduced the proclamation in 1963 after receiving a heart disease diagnosis and learning that over one-half of Americans received heart disease diagnoses. This newfound knowledge led him to introduce the proclamation to educate Americans on preventive care. To this day, the month acts as a time encouraging people to focus on their cardiovascular health and emphasizes preventive practices. Although February is on its way out, it’s never too late to establish preventive health practices. Emily Allen , a health promotion specialist for Salt Lake Community College’s Center for Health and Counseling (CHC), shares ways students can integrate heart-healthy practices into their day-to-day lives.
