Alan Scarniff and Kieran Hardiman, professional Irish stepdancers, opened a studio in West Valley City to teach more the art of Irish Dancing. Today, their students are seen dancing in the Grand Theatre, on the set of The Crucible, running through March 24th. The SLCC Aviation Maintenance program team members recently competed for the first time in the Aircraft Maintenance Professionals AMT Society’s Fifth Annual Aircraft Maintenance Competition held in Las Vegas, Nevada. They came away with a fourth place finish from among 16 schools. Our team also placed first in the Goodyear Tire Inspection event—from among all competitors, including industry representatives. Congratulations SLCC Aircraft Maintenance team members-- Well done!

Submit your proposal for the SLCC 2012 Student Conference on Writing and Social Justice . Proposals will be considered for: academic and creative works (researched papers, short films, poster presentations, poetry readings, etc.), exploring how writing is used to promote change, and engage actively with the community. Salt Lake Community College announces Abby Wambach as its 2012 Commencement speaker. The 2012 Salt Lake Community College Commencement Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 3 at 4:30 p.m. at the Maverik Center, located at 3200 South Decker Lake Drive in West Valley City, Utah. Abby Wambach was a collegiate All-American as a player at the University of Florida who first joined the United States’ Women’s National Team in 2001. She has won an Olympic Games gold medal and led the U.S. team to the World Cup finals. Wambach has been recognized as the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year—and currently ranks second in lifetime international competition goals scored behind only her former teammate Mia Hamm. In 2001, she made her WNT debut at that year’s Nike U.S. Women’s Cup. The next year, she was the second player taken in the WUSA draft by the Washington Freedom.
