The Markosian Library, located on the Salt Lake Community
College Taylorsville Redwood Campus, is hosting the Freedom of Information and
Privacy exhibit, open March through May.
The multimedia display features videos, including a clip of
George W. Bush signing the Patriot Act in 2001. The exhibit also covers the 1966
federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), an act signed into law by Lyndon B.
Johnson that “allows for the full or partial disclosure of previously
unreleased information and documents controlled by the U.S. government.”
The overall exhibit explores the overlapping relationship
between historical models of how we transmit, share, and receive telecommunicated
information and digital data and the underlying political associations with the
laws governing these procedures.
