Fulbright Scholar Dr. Baohua Wang

Salt Lake Community College's first-ever Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Baohua Wang, was introduced on the floor of the Utah State Senate and Utah House of Representatives today, February 16, 2012.

Dr. Wang currently teaches at the Chinese Capital Medical University in Beijing. A graduate of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the China Academy of Medical Science, his research focuses on the classic theory of acupuncture. Dr. Wang will provide lectures and seminars on the theory and application of Chinese medicine.

With experience teaching acupuncture not only to Chinese students but also to international students from countries such as India, Pakistan, Canada and South Africa, Dr. Wang also published a book in 2009 about Traditional Chinese Medicine aimed at the Chinese population.

During his visit to the United States, Dr. Wang will be providing lectures and seminars on the topic of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in particular, its theory and application.  He will also be addressing the differences between Western and Eastern Medicine, and will focus on the approaches used by Traditional Chinese Medicine as it pertains to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Dr. Wang will work with SLCC’s School of Health Sciences at Salt Lake Community College, which will coordinate the scholar’s activities during the five-month period of his Fulbright residency. The College’s School of Professional and Economic Development will also work with Dr. Wang to help organize and support external community outreach activities with community and industry partners. SLCC’s Faculty Teaching and Learning Center will help organize and support workshops, seminars, guest lecturing and round-table discussions for SLCC faculty.

Dr. Wang is scheduled to make a presentation on March 27th at the South City Campus.

Recognizing SLCC's 2025 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering

The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a recognition of quality work by one of Salt Lake Community College’s full-time faculty and a charge to develop that work over an academic year into a public presentation. A committee chosen by the Associate Provost for Learning Advancement selects the faculty lecturer each year. The lecture takes place in the spring.
