Touch of Polynesia 2013

Join us for the Touch of Polynesia, Pacific Islander Music and Dance Concert!

When: Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 pm
Where: Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Alder Outdoor Amphitheater

Free event, open to all!The touch of Polynesia music and dance show is to help educate, promote, and share Pacific Island culture to everyone within and beyond the SLCC community. The performances will be filled with chants, folk songs, and melodious tunes throughout the evening by two bands and a variety of dance companies.

The dancing wil range anywhere from the beautiful Hawaiian hula to the fast-paced hip shaking of Tahiti and from the quick movements of the Samoan slap dance to the group Lakalaka dance from Tonga. This will be an event the whole family can enjoy. Please be prepared to be entertained unlike anything in Utah. Because although we are unable to take everyone to the islands, before this night is through, we will ensure you'll get a Touch of Polynesia!

Salt Lake Community College’s annual Undergraduate Projects, Performances, Presentations, and Research Conference (UP3RC) is set to take place on April 2, at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, offering students a chance to showcase their academic achievements, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange. The UP3RC is an annual event designed to celebrate and highlight the academic accomplishments of undergraduate students. SLCC West Valley Center will be opening its doors on Friday, August 2, from 6-9 pm for their annual lowrider event that celebrates the automotive culture and welcomes current, past, and future Bruins into the SLCC community. This unique event allows lowriders to showcase their vehicles and for spectators to witness the creativity, craftsmanship, and passion that goes into a lowrider car. From the sleek custom paint jobs to the impressive hydraulics showcased at the hop-off, attendees get immersed in the vibrant culture created by SLCC West Valley’s community.
