Folio,
Salt Lake Community College’s student-run literary magazine is now hiring
student editors for the 2013-2014 academic year. Qualified applicants should
submit materials to the faculty advisor, Brandon Alva (Brandon.alva@gmail.com), by
Monday, August 19, 2013. Please see positions listed below:
Folio
Literary Editor
The Literary Editor will work in conjunction with the Web and
Design Editors to create and manage the web and print editions of Folio. The Literary Editor will
coordinate submissions and work with the staff to select content for the
magazine. Below is a description of the specific duties and desired
qualifications. The editor will be compensated at same rate as the Web and
Design editors, $1000 per semester.
Duties:
- Coordinate
selection and editing of literary submissions
- Actively
seek literary submissions
- Coordinate
volunteer staff
- Coordinate
copy-editing/ proofreading
- Assist
w/ duties of design and web editor
Qualifications:
- Must
be an SLCC student (full or part-time) during the 2013-14 year
- Interest
in and/or experience with creative writing
- Editing
experience preferred.
- Have
taken English 1010 (or equivalent) with a B or better.
- Knowledge
of InDesign preferred

Folio
Design Editor
The Design Editor’s primary responsibility will be to lay out the
print edition of Folio using InDesign.
The Design Editor will also coordinate with the Literary and Web editors in the
production of the web and print editions of the magazine. Below is a
description of the specific duties and desired qualifications. The editor will
be compensated at same rate as the Web and Literary editors, $1000 per
semester.
Duties:
- Coordinate
selection and editing of art submissions
- Actively
seek art submissions
- Coordinate
design and layout of Folio
- Schedule,
advertise and coordinate Folio-related
events (readings, etc.)
- Determine,
in conjunction with Editor and Advisor, print specifications
- Assist
w/ duties of Literary and Web Editors
Qualifications:
- Must
be an SLCC student (full or part-time) during the 2013-14 year
- Interest
in and/or experience with creative writing
- Have
taken one of the following courses with a B or Better: Art 1220, Art 1230, Comm 1630
- Experience
with InDesign
- Experience
with Photoshop

Folio Web
Editor
The Web Editor will work in conjunction with the Literary and
Design Editors to create and manage the Folio
Web Edition. The Web Editor will also assist in promoting Folio via social media. Below is a description of the specific
duties and desired qualifications. The editor will be compensated at same rate
as the Literary and Design editors, $1000 per semester.
Duties:

Coordinate selection and editing of multimedia
submission that are web-specific (i.e. video, audio, color photography, etc.
- Actively seek multimedia submissions
- Coordinate
design of Folio website
- Determine,
in conjunction with the Editors and Advisor, web lay-out specifications
- Schedule,
advertise and coordinate Folio-related
events (readings, etc.) via social media

Manage and update website, post announcements
& event info
·
Reports to the Folio faculty advisor
·
Requires 10-15 hours a week
Qualifications:
·
Knowledge of Web design
·
Ability to work with code and blogging
platforms
- Must
