Unleash the Pulitzer Prize potential in an underserved teen with the Salt Lake Teens Write program, sponsored by the Salt Lake Community College Community Writing Center and the Salt Lake City Public Library.
The program is open to incoming high school juniors looking for opportunities to manifest their love of writing or to improve upon their skills as modern-day scribes.
Teens Write participants meet weekly during the academic year with adult partners who regularly rely on writing in their personal and professional lives. Mentor-student pairs work on writing in a variety of genres, with a kickoff celebration in the fall and a final event at the end of the school year that includes a public reading and an anthology publication.
It’s a way for teens to write what they want without the worry of whether they’re good enough. Writers in this program will develop a portfolio while exploring how writing opens different pathways to education and successful careers.
