  10. A instructor has told students there will be no missing finals tomorrow and they are to leave early no matter what. One of our class mates lives where there is no plowing of streets. It isn't worth risking your life - but this teacher thinks it is! Hopefully if it is bad tomorrow they will do the same!!

  11. For effective corporate event planning, make sure you send the invitations on time so that you get to know the exact number of people attending the event. This will help you in making arrangements easily.

  12. Many instructors and students have early morning classes – 7 start times or earlier. Could there be a better alert system, or at least alert by 5 am for school closures? Waiting until 7 am or later doesn't help a lot of people! Thanks!

  14. I phoned at 6:15 and got the message the college was open this morning. I agree the message for the college being open should be available much earlier. We are a commuter campus.

  15. General rule for personal use: if it takes you twice as long to get half the distance, it's not safe for you to be on the road.

The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a recognition of quality work by one of Salt Lake Community College’s full-time faculty and a charge to develop that work over an academic year into a public presentation. A committee chosen by the Associate Provost for Learning Advancement selects the faculty lecturer each year. The lecture takes place in the spring. Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering Dr. Andrew Vogt’s teaching philosophy is guided by two principles, curiosity and efficiency.  “Curiosity leads us to study a topic and allows us to really understand the ins and outs of research, while efficiency is all about sustainability,” he says. Andrew describes curiosity as a pure, open-minded impulse to explore, such as the ease with which children learn new concepts with virtually no instruction. Efficiency adds maturity to that childlike impulse, creating structures and pathways for accomplishment.  Andrew’s work has alwa...
