College's American Chemical Society chapter wins national award

ACS tries to drum up new members on the SLCC Taylorsville Redwood Campus.

The American Chemical Society Student Affiliate chapter of Salt Lake Community College has earned the Outstanding Chapter Award for 2020/2021. This award is the highest honor the American Chemical Society bestows on their student affiliate chapters. The award will be announced in an upcoming issue of Chemical and Engineering News, the ACS's official national news magazine. The Student Affiliates of SLCC were also awarded the ACS Green Chemistry award and will be designated as a Green Chemistry Chapter for the 2021/2022 school year. Representatives of SLCC’s chapter will receive the awards when they travel with the ACS clubs to the ACS national conference in San Diego in the Spring of 2022.

  • “The chapter has done great service for your local community, local schools and your own college. The chapter had many amazing activities for local charities and raised an unbelievable amount of money for them. Amazing! This is one of the best service reports I have seen in more than seven years of reviewing reports. Great Job!”
  • “The chapter seemed to provide robust programming which led to great retention and recruitment to the chapter. You also put someone in charge of publicizing the activities and events. The chapter had high visibility on campus and provided such varied activities to have something for everyone. The chapter seemed very organized with hosting regular planning meetings.”
  • “This chapter has done a great job fundraising for activities and charities. The chapter kept good records of your budgets. This could certainly be tough dealing with separate entities. Great job.”
  • “The chapter has done an amazing job this year. You have done impactful service for multiple charities, local schools and your own campus. You have provided many opportunities for your members for professional development through speaker series and field trips. You were able to do many activities and raise funds for these activities as well as for charities. The chapter should be happy for their success. Great work.”
