Salt Lake Community College invites you to take part in its  annual Giving Day – a chance to help students realize their dreams of a higher education! On Feb. 17, SLCC is aiming to raise $100,000 for the college’s students and student programs. Giving Day raises funds to help make college more affordable to many students who otherwise would not be able to access college or workforce training.

SLCC Giving Day is part of the college’s comprehensive campaign to raise $40 million for scholarships and school programming in conjunction with celebrating SLCC’s 75th anniversary in 2023.

“Last year we met and exceeded our goal, making a huge, positive difference in thousands of students’ lives,” said Nancy Michalko, executive director of the SLCC Foundation. “We are hopeful that all those who have been touched by Salt Lake Community College and who believe in making education more accessible will once again rally to help us meet our fundraising goal.”

Your gift can make a greater impact as several sponsors are offering “challenge” or matching gifts to encourage donors to give as much as possible.

In support of Giving Day donations to the Students in Crisis Fund, fashion designer and Netflix “Queer Eye” star Tan France is hosting an exclusive online Q&A Feb. 17, at 11:30 a.m. MST.

SLCC Fashion Club president Kassandra Ramirez, who will moderate the event, expects a great discussion about fashion and real-life issues like paying for education.

“There are so many students who don’t even know how to start with higher education, and the college provides so many resources and support systems. We want people to donate to the college and the Students in Crisis Fund because it opens doors for students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to go to school,” said Ramirez

Grab your spot today, as space is limited to the first 1,000 registrants for the Tan France Q&A. A minimum $5 donation is required for students. A minimum $25 donation is required for everyone else.

Every penny of your donation for the Tan France event will go toward our Students in Crisis Fund. Zoom details will be provided by email upon receiving your donation.

HB 261 and HB 257 Frequently Asked Questions

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students: The Utah Legislature recently passed two bills that significantly impact higher education:  HB 261  Equal Opportunity Initiatives and HB  257  Sex-Based Designations for Privacy, Anti-Bullying, and Women’s Opportunities. Salt Lake Community College is deeply committed to our students, faculty, and staff. We strive to be a place where all are welcomed and respected. While there are many unknowns about the ultimate effect these bills will have on some student and staff support programs, be assured that SLCC will maintain an environment where all can find success and feel a sense of belonging. In the coming months, college leadership will work to gain clarity and determine the changes necessary for legislative compliance. We will also share this information as it becomes available.  We realize that during this time, some in our college community may feel unsettled and stressed. We encourage you to make use of available SLCC resources designed to support y
