Weather Advisory: December 2015

The College will close officially at 6:00 pm today (December 14). Finals scheduled for 5:50 pm and later this evening will be rescheduled.  Events at the Grand Theatre will continue this evening as scheduled. Mexican students at SLCC to benefit from grant

Juntos Podemos/Together We Can and the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) recently awarded a $5,000 IME-Becas grant to the Utah-based FUNDET Scholarship Program, which will help 10 to 15 Mexican students attending Salt Lake Community College. During an event at the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City to announce grant awards for several institutions in Utah, Mexican Consul Eduardo Arnal said the money helps with the development and personal growth of Mexican students as well as the economic and social development of Mexican communities. Scholarship recipient Ciria Alvarez talked about how the funding helped her overcome “barriers” and “obstacles” as an undocumented student toward someday becoming a civil rights attorney. SLCC’s Grand Theatre hosts concert for Camp K, Guinness record attempt

Musician Scott Helmer is playing concerts in 12 cities within 24 hours Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, ending with a concert at Salt Lake Community College’s Grand Theatre on the South City Campus in Salt Lake City. Helmer is using the concerts to raise money for the Kostopulos Dream Foundation—aka Camp Kostopulos, or Camp K —and break a Guinness Book of World Records title in the process.   Camp K, 4180 E. Emigration Canyon Road, Salt Lake City, provides high-quality programs in a safe environment for people of all abilities and is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through education, recreation and growth opportunities. Helmer’s goal, along with television stations KTVX and KUCW, is to raise $1 million for Camp K. SLCC dancers perform Forces of Nature at Grand Theatre

The Salt Lake Community College's Dance Company will perform "Forces of Nature" Nov. 20 and 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre on South City Campus in Salt Lake City. Professional dancers from several local companies are joining the SLCC dancers for the annual fall show.

SLCC singers hold Carols of Christmas concert

Salt Lake Community College presents the final show of the SLCC Choirs Fall Semester Performances 2015 with Carols of Christmas Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m. at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 Foothill Dr., Salt Lake City.
