SLCC Softball and Baseball Win Region 18 Tournament!

Softball:






Salt Lake City- The Salt Lake Community College Softball team claimed the Region 18 title with a 10-4 win over Southern Idaho in the Region 18 Championship game at Bruin Field.  The Bruins move to 55-7 overall this season with the win.
 
Salt Lake fell down early in the game with Southern Idaho striking in the first inning off a pair of SLCC errors.  However the Bruins would settle down and take the lead in the fourth with a six run inning.  Ariel Zimmerman got the win going five innings striking out four; MaCauley Flint got the save going two innings with three k's.  Meagan Neilson blasted a three run home run in the sixth inning to put Salt Lake up six with three outs remaining.  Maddy Woodard finished the game 3 for 4 with three RBI.
 
The Bruins advance on to the NJCAA National tournament in St. George, UT on May 17th -19th.

Baseball:








Salt Lake CityThe top seeded SLCC Bruin Baseball team took the Region 18 title with a 6-5 comeback win over Western Nevada.  Down three heading into the ninth inning the Bruins rallied to score four runs and win in walk-off fashion.  The Bruins are now 43-8 overall and will host a District Playoff next weekend at Cate Field.
 
Ruddy Acosta got the no decision pitching seven innings allowing five hits while Aaron Robbs picked up the win in two innings of work.  Dominique Taylor was 3 for 5 with three RBI.  Kennedy Kinkade was the hero of the game hitting a two run double in the ninth to give SLCC the win.  Kinkade finished the game 2 for 5 with two RBI.  SLCC's Dominique Taylor was named tournament MVP.   
 
The Bruins will host the District Playoff next weekend at Cate field.  The playoff is a four team tournament.  The winner of the playoff will earn a berth to NJCAA Nationals in Grand Junction Colorado.

SLCC's Undergraduate Annual Research Conference Registration Deadline

Salt Lake Community College’s annual Undergraduate Projects, Performances, Presentations, and Research Conference (UP3RC) is set to take place on April 2, at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, offering students a chance to showcase their academic achievements, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange.  The UP3RC is an annual event designed to celebrate and highlight the academic accomplishments of undergraduate students. It provides a supportive environment for students to share their work, hone their presentations skills, receive constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions with their peers and faculty. All SLCC departments and programs, including faculty and staff, are encouraged to support and visit the day of the event.
