Congrats, Neal Grover!



Congrats to Auto Collision Repair and Paint Instructor, Neal Grover, for winning a 2012 Best of State Medal for Education in the "College/University Teacher" category.

Neal Grover has been a recipient of many awards during his tenure at SLCC. Among his many awards and recognitions are the following:


Distinguished SLCC Alumni Award 2007-2008
Mr. Grover has been with SLCC for over 50 years. He began at the Salt Lake Area Vocational School in 1958 as a student. Shortly after receiving a Certificate of Accomplishment in 1960, he began teaching in the automotive repair department for what was then called “Trade Tech”. He is now a nationally respected, award-winning auto collision repair technician and is a talented educator. Since 1974 Mr. Grover has headed up national medalists in the SkillsUSA organization. The SLCC Alumni Association named Neal Grover Distinguished Alumni for the 2007-2008 school year.

I-CAR Teacher of the Year Award 2011
Neal Grover received a Teacher of the Year award in January 2011 at the I-CAR Northwest and Southwest Regional Conference. The College has an education industry alliance with I-CAR that incorporates I-CAR curriculum to give students comprehensive knowledge of collision repair along with other automotive technology studies.

I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on auto collision repair, is an international not-for-profit training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of auto collision repair. Mr. Grover helped found I-CAR in 1979 and SLCC has been the mainstay and provider of I-CAR training since its inception.

Mr. Grover has worked as an organizer, recruiter, promoter, welding qualification test administrator and instructor. Since 1958, Mr. Grover has been involved with the College, either as a student, Program Advisory Committee board member or instructor. Being a technical instructor over 35 years has broadened his experience and knowledge in industry relations. Mr. Grover is pleased to be such an influential piece in the education of SLCC students.
