Each year, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world move to America. They establish new lives, raise families, and become part of our community. But often the inspiring journeys that new Americans travel go unheard. Earlier this year, Salt Lake Community College students set out to explore these journeys by capturing the personal stories of classmates and community members who left their home countries and moved to Utah in search for safety, stability, and 'American Dream.'
The 'Stories of Utahans From Around the World" exhibit will feature the stories written by SLCC students along with personal reflections on the impact these stories had on the students' understanding of their community.
The event will be part of the National Welcoming Week -- September 15-22nd. To learn more about the National Welcoming Week, visit, www.welcomingweek.org. For questions, contact Diana Paredes at 801-487-4143 or at diana@cuutah.org
