The Veterans Administration’s Office of Field Operations
recently recognized Salt Lake Community College’s “VetSuccess on Campus” (VSOC)
program as one of 10 top-performing campuses chosen to hold open houses that
showcased services colleges’ Veterans Services offices provide.
“The open house
was such a success, and so many of our veterans were served by holding this
event. To have the VA see the success of our partnership is an honor,” said
Darlene Head, SLCC manager of Veterans Services. “It is important for us to
successfully work in partnership with the VA to best serve our student veterans.
I am honored to be in partnership with them.”
VSOC vocational rehabilitation counselors provide academic
and vocational guidance to vets, connecting them to other VA benefits that
include health care and mental health services. Counselors also help service
members, veterans and dependents apply for medical and nonmedical benefits.
