Theatre Department Performing 'Festival Dionysia' at Alder Amphitheatre

The Salt Lake Community College Theatre Department is proud to present the production Festival Dionysia 2021 for two performances Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. each night.

The Festival Dionysia is a Greek Festival from 5th Century Greece, celebrating theatre, music and Dionysus, the god of fertility, wine and revelry. Four groups of student performers will take on the four most successful Greek playwrights in an all-out battle to determine the best Greek playwright of all time. Under the direction of Zac Curtis, this show will feature live music, poetry, dance, drama and comedy. In honor of Dionysus, it will be a party that audiences will never forget.

Performances will take place at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus Alder Amphitheater, 4600 South Redwood Road. Audience masks and social distancing will be required. House opens at 7 p.m., performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and is 75 minutes in length with no intermission.

The CPL department at SLCC was created in 2020 and since then the volume of students served has grown as the department continues to expand.
