Meet Asian Student Association Club President, Aye Chan

Aye Chan, ASA Club President

Name: Aye Chan

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Residence: I have lived in Utah for 6 years.

Major: Business

Academic goals: Get an MBA and start my own business.

Dream job: Own a car company

Plan B: Work at a dealership

Why higher education? The promise of a better career.

Why SLCC? When government funds are insufficient, SLCC can assist qualifying students in paying for their education by covering the cost of tuition and fees.

What motivates you or inspires you at school or in life? My own drive to succeed. Abel Morales said: “When it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump, otherwise you end up staying in the same place your whole life, and that I can't do.”

“Fail, fail until you get tired of it.”

Meaningful life or career lessons you have learned so far? Involving the community is an excellent way to spend your college career.

Family: I live with my father and three of my siblings.

Hobbies: Fishing, billiard, bowling, volleyball, basketball, football (soccer), camping, photography and road trips.

Awards/accomplishments: N/A

He won't mention it but Aye also was part of a FIRST robotic team at Cottonwood high school that went on to the Worlds Championship games in Houston 2019, along with Jevahjire France, BSU club president.

Why ASA Club:  I joined the ASA club because I want to be more involved in the community and meet other student leaders. Most students, in my opinion, join clubs because they can help them connect with others, make new friends, network and have fun. Making new friends and organizing events have taught me a plethora of social and communication skills. I recently got in touch with OCA (Asian Pacific Islander American Advocates) and met even more amazing people while learning about great leadership skills.

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) proudly announces a partnership with the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation to modernize its Business Building and transform its School of Business. The improvements are made possible through a generous $10 million gift from the Miller Family Foundation and Gail Miller, the largest-ever single cash donation received by the college.  SLCC is renaming its Business Building the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Business Building in honor of the Miller family’s legacy and contributions to the community. The business school will be named the Gail Miller School of Business in recognition of the strong business acumen Gail Miller displays as a community leader and as the owner and immediate past chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. This name change will make SLCC home to the only business school in Utah and one of only a few in the country to be named exclusively after a woman.  “We are deeply humbled by the generosity of Gail and the Miller fam
