Un estudiante debe cumplir con algunos elementos clave antes de su primer día de universidad, como la solicitud de admisión, al igual que registrarse para clases, y uno puede argumentar que la Solicitud Gratuita de Ayuda Federal para Estudiantes (FAFSA) es igual de importante. FAFSA es una de las solicitudes más crucial que un estudiante puede aplicar cuando asiste a Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) o cualquier otra institución de educación universitaria. Cuando las ayudas federales se quedan cortas, la Promesa SLCC (SLCC Promise) ayuda a los estudiantes a pagar su educación cubriendo el costo de la matrícula y las cuotas.

 

Quinto: Hay muchas razones por las que un estudiante puede no calificar para FAFSA: los estudiantes deben ser ciudadanos estadounidenses o no ciudadanos elegibles para completar la solicitud. Sin embargo, se motiva a los estudiantes a hablar con un asesor de ayuda financiera antes de determinar cuál es la mejor situación, ya que la situación de ningún estudiante es igual a la de otro.

 

Los estudiantes que se benefician de FAFSA están bajo un contrato de contingencia, lo que significa que permanecerán en buen estado académico y otros criterios que los estudiantes deben comprender. La solicitud de FAFSA es un proceso complejo y puede ser intimidante; sin embargo, la oficina de Ayuda Financiera de SLCC apoya a los estudiantes durante todo el proceso. Una vez que se envía la solicitud, toda la correspondencia de ayuda financiera se enviará a través del correo electrónico del estudiante.

The Center for Prior Learning Receives an Honorable Mention

Today, SLCC's Credit for Prior Learning department received an Honorable Mention from the  Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL ) and the  Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education  for its intentional approach and for expanding student options to receive credit for prior learning.  Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)  allows students to obtain college credit for knowledge and skills acquired outside of the traditional academic environment. This is exceptionally beneficial for adult learners, who, according to CAEL, have a 17% higher chance of graduating compared to those adults who don’t earn credits through prior learning programs. The CPL department at SLCC was created in 2020 and since then the volume of students served has grown as the department continues to expand. Board of Higher Ed names Gregory F. Peterson 9th SLCC President

The Utah Board of Higher Education unanimously selected Gregory F. Peterson, Ed.D., as the ninth president of Salt Lake Community College today, following an extensive national search. Peterson will assume the position on July 1, 2024, and succeeds Deneece G.
