For many people figuring out their educational path can be an uphill battle. For Hailee Henson, Area Operations Manager at Handel’s Ice Cream, selecting that field started with choosing something she is passionate about.
Hailee started her culinary journey at Salt Lake Community College. “I was looking for an affordable culinary program, close to home and work, and SLCC was the perfect fit,” says Hailee. “Once I decided what my passion was, I jumped head-first, and school became something I always looked forward to.”
As a culinary pastry student, Hailee spent all her time at the Miller Campus in the Culinary Arts building and loved every moment. Hailee remembers having the opportunity to learn from professors and obtain personalized attention to expand on her skills at SLCC. “Chef Cynthia Alberts recognized the passion in me and worked hard to help me to improve,” says Hailee as she recalls the engaging culinary courses that were a delight to attend.
Hailee would like to share advice with current SLCC students to take advantage of their time with their professors. “The things professors are teaching you will be more relevant in your workforce than you think right now,” says Hailee.
