SLCC Students Recognized for Charity on TV Segment

The Social Work Student Association (SWSA) at Salt Lake Community College received a surprise $500 donation recently from the Pay It Forward program, sponsored by Mountain America Credit Union and KUTV.

Students were delivering donations from SLCC’s Coats for Cocoa program to the Road Home Shelter in Salt Lake City when Mountain America President Sterling Nielsen surprised them with the funds. He awarded the money to SWSA President Justin Hughes.

The donation is in recognition of the SWSA’s meaningful services and will be used for future services by the Social Work Student Association.

KUTV filmed the interaction as part of the Pay It Forward segment that appeared on KUTV’s March 4 newscast.
