SLCC staff worked with American Family Insurance to select a
deserving individual at SLCC to receive the van, rehabilitated with the help of
donations from local auto parts stores and the efforts of Superior Auto Body in
Draper. Wilkins’ family recently had two vehicles break down, making it a
struggle to get their three children to different schools and both parents to
work. After stitching together their family’s various commutes, Wilkins finally
purchased a small car. The rehabilitated used van, however, will be a huge
addition to the family’s driveway.
With this
donation through National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program, in
coordination with American Family Insurance, the Wilkins family can breathe a
little easier and even allow their children to bring a friend along for a
simple trip to the park. Vanessa Wilkins, who works part time in SLCC’s Student
Life and Leadership office, and her husband both take classes at SLCC.
