Miller Business Resource Center New Site For Women Tech Council

Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Business Resource Center (MBRC) at the Miller Campus in Sandy is now home to the Women Tech Council (WTC). Founded in 2007, the Women Tech Council provides mentoring, visibility and networking for women.

“Women Tech Council plays a critical role in elevating women in technology professions,” said Beth Colosimo, Executive Director of MBRC. “No other organization in the state is as laser focused on creating opportunities for young girls, women returning to the workforce and professional women who want to learn, network and become a stronger, more visible force in the burgeoning tech community in Utah.”

At their home on the SLCC Miller Campus, WTC will continue to raise awareness, plan events and develop programs to help businesses connect with the talented women in the community and help women capitalize on opportunities in technology professions. The WTC supports women-owned and women-operated technology companies, and they pride themselves on recognizing women leaders and entrepreneurs in the technology business and supporting them. The WTC will join the MBRC to serve the diverse business community all at one location.

"WTC is deeply committed to growing and diversifying the career pipeline to help drive Utah's economy.” Said Cydni Tetro, Executive Director of WTC. “Through this partnership with Salt Lake Community College, our joined forces will be able to broaden the reach and breadth of our impacts and magnify further the impact of women in technology, the growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs and the health and vitality of the state’s economy.”

The goal at the SLCC Miller Campus is to provide a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs and small businesses to find the assistance, support, training and education they may need to get their businesses up and running or help growing their small business. The WTC community is built for women who currently work for technology companies, and for those that may work for in technology roles in other market sectors.

Volleyball Team Also Excels in the Classroom

The Salt Lake Community College volleyball program is one of the nation's top junior college programs on the court but the Bruins are also one of the leaders in the classroom. The program released its academic accomplishments from the 2018-19 academic year over the Memorial Day weekend, celebrating several individual and team accomplishments. SLCC's awards represent another year where the Bruins have been recognized for the success of their student-athletes.  Salt Lake coach   Sue Dulaney   said the team focuses on academics in almost all of their team activities.
