Hundreds Attend Westpointe Community Night



Westpointe Community Night drew more than 400 guests to see the new Westpointe Workforce Training & Education Center. Volunteers with Salt Lake Community College gave people guided tours as children played games and food trucks provided free meals.

Strategically located in Salt Lake City’s industrial Northwest Quadrant, Westpointe will be integral to the Wasatch Front’s long-term economic vitality. This vibrant new facility will support the community’s training needs in a flexible, high-quality space that will benefit business, industry and the surrounding community for decades.

The 121,000-square-foot building will provide space for collaboration with industry partners in multiple fields and will provide students interested in technical careers with a one-of-a-kind, one-stop educational center. It will allow SLCC to fulfill its mission as Salt Lake County’s primary post-secondary provider of workforce education.

Volleyball Team Also Excels in the Classroom

The Salt Lake Community College volleyball program is one of the nation's top junior college programs on the court but the Bruins are also one of the leaders in the classroom. The program released its academic accomplishments from the 2018-19 academic year over the Memorial Day weekend, celebrating several individual and team accomplishments. SLCC's awards represent another year where the Bruins have been recognized for the success of their student-athletes.  Salt Lake coach   Sue Dulaney   said the team focuses on academics in almost all of their team activities.
