The Red Cross,
with support from the Thayne Center for Service & Learning, will be hosting
blood drives from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on:
·
Sept.
23 – Miller Campus – MCPC 101
·
Oct.
28 – Taylorsville Redwood Campus – Student Event Center
·
December
2 – Taylorsville Redwood Campus – Student Event Center
Donors can
register at www.RedCrossBlood.org –
enter SLCCMiller for the Sept. 23 drive to schedule an appointment in advance. One
person’s donation can help up to three people in three different ways:
platelets, plasma and red blood cells. If you have questions about registering,
eligibility or donating, call 866-236-3276. Walk-ins are always welcome at Red
Cross blood drives.
The Utah branch of
the Red Cross is projecting that there will not be enough supplies in reserve
to meet demands during the holidays. Utah hospitals are working with three-day
supplies while it’s recommended they have a two-week supply. With more people
working from home, the numbers of donors during drives held at workplaces has
declined. SLCC, however, has been credited with picking up some of that loss
and making a “positive imprint” on the Red Cross.
