Campus Status and Available Student Services (as of 3/23/20)

These are strange times indeed as we all try to get the hang of “social distancing.” In following guidance provided by the CDC and the Utah Department of Health, we have needed to make some changes to campus operations and limit some of the services typically available to students. The following is a handy guide to help you know how access the help you need.

Closure status of campus locations
Most of our locations are open unless noted below. Currently, we anticipate that closed campuses will be unavailable through May 8.

Taylorsville Redwood – Open
Jordan – Open
South City – Open
Herriman – Closed
Library Square – Open (More information to come regarding the sewing lab)
West Valley – Closed
Miller – Open
Westpointe – Open
Airport – Open
Community Writing Center – Closed

Also closed are all campus fitness centers and the Grand Theatre. The March 26–April 11 run of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and the May 14–June 6 run of "The Producers" have both been postponed. Details will be shared as they become available. More information will be available on The Grand's website.

Student Services
Most student services are available, but some may only be accessible online or by appointment.

Academic Advising: Advising is available online and via telephone. Call SLCC’s Academic Advising locations for more information.

Bookstores: The online bookstore is open 24/7 and FREE shipping is available on all online bookstore orders. The following campus bookstores will remain open with limited hours.
What’s Bruin Coffee Shop: M–F  7 a.m.–2 p.m.
Redwood Campus: M–F 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
South City Campus: M–F 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
West Jordan Campus: M–F 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Bruin Pantry: Bruin Pantries are temporarily suspending distributions this week. Check the Bruin Pantry site for details.

Campus Libraries: The libraries at Taylorsville Redwood and South City are open while the library at our Jordan campus is closed.

Career Services: Students can contact career services online or via telephone.

Center for Health and Counseling: Our Jordan and South City locations are temporarily closed, and massages and group counseling sessions at all campuses are cancelled. Individual counseling and telehealth appointments will be available at our Taylorsville Redwood location. To make an appointment or for more information, call 801-957-4268. 

Childcare Centers: SLCC’s two childcare centers, located at our Taylorsville Redwood and South City campuses, will be closed March 25–May 8.

Computer Labs: These are open at the Taylorsville Redwood campus (student center and library), South City campus (student affairs area and library) and Jordan campus (HTC and HS Atrium). Students who may need a computer for online classes may check them out at the Taylorsville Redwood and South City campus libraries. 

Dean of Students: Office will be open most days, but call in advance to confirm availability

Disability Resource Center: All DRC staff are working remotely during this time but can be reached by phone or email

Financial Aid: All processes can be undertaken online, and questions can be answered by phone or email

Food Services: Food services at Taylorsville Redwood and and South City campuses are closed. At Miller Campus, food services will be open M–Th, 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and F, 8 a.m.–1 p.m.

Gender & Sexuality Student Resource Center: Center staff are working remotely and can be reached via social media, phone, email, or Webex (call or email to set up a meeting).

Information Desks: The information desks in the Taylorsville Redwood, South City and Jordan Student Centers will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (March 25–27).

International Student Services: Most functions are accessible online, but staff will be available on a limited basis to help students who plan to leave the US with the required paperwork. Call ahead for details

Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs: Office staff are working remotely and can be reached via phone or email. The Dream Center at the West Valley location is closed. 

One Card: For the immediate future, SLCC’s One Card will only be issued online. Call for details.

Orientation & Student Success: All orientations will be conducted virtually. Log in to MySLCC to access the online orientation found in your Semester Checklist tab. 

Printing Services: Locations with limited hours include Taylorsville Redwood (M–F, 8 a.m.–noon), South City (M–Th, 8 a.m. to noon) and Jordan (M–Th, 8 a.m. to noon). 

Registrar: All services are available online.

TRIO: Staff members are working remotely and can be reached by phone or email

Veterans’ Services: All paperwork and services are available online. Questions can also be submitted via email.
