Nick Burns: Associate Dean of Communication and Performing Arts

It is my great pleasure to announce that Nick Burns has accepted the position Associate Dean of Communication and Performing Arts in the School of Arts, Communication & Media.


Nick holds a master of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from Oregon State University focusing on English, creative writing, and journalism. His career has long been defined by blending academia and media.
His teachings include: courses in journalism for print and online; classes in media production, including narrative and documentary video and radio; instruction for software skills including Photoshop and DreamWeaver; courses in film theory and criticism; and literature and composition.
Since 2003 he has hosted the weekly news call-in interview show “RadioActive” on KRCL-FM/krcl.org.  Nick’s interview of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Studs Terkel was nominated for “Radio Moment of the Year.” RadioActive earned the City Weekly Best of 2011 “Best Advocacy Journalism” award and it earned second place for “Best Talk Radio Show.” He also hosts the show “Community Roundtable” for SLCCTV. 
Nick has been with SLCC for more than a decade and we welcome his continuing contribution to SLCC and the community it serves. Please welcome Nick to his new role.
