Girls Meet, Learn from Female Role Models in STEM Fields

Girls in grades 6-10 from around the Salt Lake Valley gathered at Salt Lake Community College's South City Campus to meet female role models from within the community to experience hands-on STEM activities (science, technology, engineering and math).

The annual Expanding Your Horizons conference is designed to motivate young women to pursue STEM fields, where typically females are underrepresented. The keynote speaker was Gretchen McClain, an engineer and businesswoman in Utah who is known for working with NASA to help build the International Space Station.

Salt Lake Community College’s annual Undergraduate Projects, Performances, Presentations, and Research Conference (UP3RC) is set to take place on April 2, at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, offering students a chance to showcase their academic achievements, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange. The UP3RC is an annual event designed to celebrate and highlight the academic accomplishments of undergraduate students.
