LinkedIn Learning — Recommended Course of the Week

Using Questions to Foster Critical Thinking and Curiosity

The one trait many successful leaders share is their natural curiosity and desire to learn. We are all innately curious—so why is it that some people seem to discover more answers and lead a more empowering life than others? Put simply, they tend to think critically and ask the right questions. In this course, learn how to leverage the power of questions to move your team, leadership, and career to the next level.

Get started with LinkedIn Learning: SLCC Learn or https://lnkd.in/gE9RCNW

We would appreciate your feedback on the LinkedIn Learning platform! Please consider taking a short survey.

Testimonials from May 2020 Meditative Pause for People in Higher Education

“Thank you Andrea and Heidi once again for organizing these weekly meditative sessions. I am a firm believer in meditation, as I practice it on my own. But these weekly sessions really worked for me because it was a time for reflection as well. What I really liked about these sessions was the fact that each session centered around a theme. For instance Andrea yesterday you focused on “not trying to fix anything,” so while I was meditating I was consciously trying to led go of things that are beyond my control and that helped. When I meditative I don’t generally reflect on anything in particular but your sessions made us all reflect on issues and that helped, at least for me. I would definitely be interested if you continue with these sessions. Thank you once again.”

— Aarti Nakra

“I found these session to be very valuable and re-energizing. Not to put too much on it, but I feel these are more valuable now than ever. I would be very interested in these in the future.” — Matt S. Merkel

HB 261 and HB 257 Frequently Asked Questions

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students: The Utah Legislature recently passed two bills that significantly impact higher education:  HB 261  Equal Opportunity Initiatives and HB  257  Sex-Based Designations for Privacy, Anti-Bullying, and Women’s Opportunities. Salt Lake Community College is deeply committed to our students, faculty, and staff. We strive to be a place where all are welcomed and respected. While there are many unknowns about the ultimate effect these bills will have on some student and staff support programs, be assured that SLCC will maintain an environment where all can find success and feel a sense of belonging. In the coming months, college leadership will work to gain clarity and determine the changes necessary for legislative compliance. We will also share this information as it becomes available.  We realize that during this time, some in our college community may feel unsettled and stressed. We encourage you to make use of available SLCC resourc...
